in German: We have spent a wonderful time in New York and experienced a lot. The idea to combine our vacation with our wedding was terrific, because our host Dennis took care of us in all respects, and our big day (wedding) sweetened simultaneously with small touches. Location of the apartment: The apartment is as described just a few blocks from the northern Central Park. In a quiet side street, there are larger for Lennox Avenue just a few steps. The Subway Station (116th) is only moments away. The location is extremely quiet. From the apartment you have a great view of the back of the house. There, everything is green and very quiet. From time to jump over a few squirrels. If you did not know better, you might think you're placed in a quiet town. Otherwise you would see on the street many locals. <> <> <> <> House to the apartment: The house is an older brick house, which visually convincing. With the staircase you feel like a scene from Bill Cosby. Inside Much is made of wood. It has charm and lends elegance. <> <> <> <> <> The Apartment: The apartment is a very stylish accommodation. The bathroom is divided into two and quite small. The apartment was clean and equipped with numerous multimedia and many other practical things. Note that the ceilings are not typical German blankets. Maybe a coating is helpful. <> <> <> <> <>The host Dennis is an extremely likeable host. He greeted us warmly and immediately admitted us into the object. He then went with us to the door, where he talked to us about the area and many good starting points such as supermarkets, restaurants, etc. offered. If we had questions, he always helped with casual and cute style. You can tell him the American flavor to :)! <> <> <> <> <> Our 3 Secrets independent of the usual sights: If you want to have breakfast times, then goes towards Lennox Avenue 119 ST to the cafe bar. There are treats for a small price in a nice atmosphere. The quickest way through the city is to use the subway. Brings you a weekly ticket. So you drive less. Taking a walk from the start of West Broadway along 5th Avenue. ------------------------------------ Here again a big thanks to Dennis. It was a very nice time with you And yes, maybe we come here for our honeymoon back to you. Why not also. ;)
Great place, old beautiful building, clean and neat, with both fan ceiling and air conditioning :-) Close to Subway and bus. The host is unrivaled friendly, smiling, welcoming, listening and gave us exactly the information we needed ift to be in NYC for the first time, thank you Dennis. The area around is a preview of the beautiful Harlem :-) I'm going back to NYC, and I choose definitely staying with Dennis again, while I recommend others to do the same. Info: Take airtrain from JFK to Jamaica station - from Subway trains E and get off at "42 st Times Square" - from subway trains 2 or 3 and get off at the "116st th station", which is 4 stops. The rest is 5 minutes on foot :-)
Hey, stay in the "Himmlischesn refuge in Harlem" was really great. Dennis, the owner, is a very nice person and has given us some valuable tips. In the apartment is a small kitchen where you can cook something nice evening itself. One can not say anything negative about the apartment. It was all there, what you can use as a holiday home. Plates, cutlery, towels, sheets, pans .... The apartment is very well located. Maybe it is up to the nearest metro station two minutes. There are several supermarkets where you can really find anything. THANK YOU for the wonderful time.
Our stay at Harlem Hideaway was really great! The apartment was comfortable, clean and 'gezellig' (pleasant and homy). It was quiet which made the apartment a real 'hideaway'. The neighborhood is nice and friendly as well and the metro station is only 4 minutes walking distance. Same counts for the supermarket and a deli. Dennis is a great host: open, friendly and very service minded. Is was a pity that our stay was too short to have a drink together. Next time w'll sure do so! It's a pleasure to recommend this location!
Dennis is a wonderful host, who cares about the well-being of his guests. He gave us precious information about his city and neighborhood. (If you want to know, just go there!)
We had an amazing time in Dennis’ apartment (very quiet and comfy) and in Harlem (which is a little village in reality: don’t forget to say hello when you come across someone).
… in fact, we’re planning on wrapping up our stuff and grabbing the next flight to New York: Dennis, we’re back!
Seriously, we’ll be enchanted to come back.
In the meantime, if you ever want to visit the South of France, you are welcome at home whenever you want: glasses and wine are ready. ==> we mean it!

The home of Dennis was perfect. Apartment beautiful, comfortable in a very quiet family, a little outside the 'fury of the city', which is great after a day of ballads. Very easy access to the metro. In short, a place to recommend ... Completely. Marianne and Leo (Belgium)
Accès au métro very easy. Bref, un lieu à recommander... Totalement. Marianne et Léo (Belgique)
We were absolutely satisfied with our stay at Denis' Harlem Hideaway. Everything was like expected and even better. Denis is a very kind guy who obviously enjoys hosting people. He was very supportive during our stay and provided us with information not only about the obvious attractions the city has to offer but also shared his knowledge on the more off beaten tracks. Unnecessary to mention that he provided the keys for the apartment at the time and place agreed upon. Moreover, he offered the possibility to store our bags until we left for our departure late in the evening. So we had one more full day to enjoy without worrying about our luggage.
The place itself is a small but cozy studio which is warm furnished. A lot of extras are provided as NYC guidebooks a hub for mp3 players soap shampoo and towels. Denis even provides mascara and a hairdryer as standard equipment. So no need to bring it with you! There is a fully equipped kitchen and a fridge if you feel like cooking.
The apartment is located in a nice and vibrant part of Harlem, just a few blocks from the North entrance of central park. Supermarkets pharmacies and anything you are possibly in need of are just a stone's throw from there. It seems to us that the neighborhood is very safe as the host confirmed as well. Moreover, the apartment is very quite due to its location in a calm side street where it faces a backyard. The location is perfectly connected to the subway and you will make in about 15 min to Times Square on a direct train.
All in all we had a perfect stay at the Harlem hideaway. The only thing you could possibly nag about is the size of the bed. Since it is a not kingsize it might be a bit small for some persons. But again, we didn't see that as problem and would definitely recommend this place.
We enjoyed a great stay in New York. The studio is perfect, it´s beautiful styled and very calm. You find everything you need for your stay. The studio is situated in a small street with nice old houses and trees. Everything is near by, good restaurants and bars and a supermarket. A subway stop is round the corner. and with the express trains all main points of Manhatten and Brooklyn are easy to reach. Dennis was very kind and helpful. For our next stay in New York we will rent this wonderful studio again.
Cozy and clean, great location for its proximity to metro stations. The area is well served by pubs and restaurants.
