THE LOCAL AREA
A microcosm of London's shifting ethnic patterns, the area around Brick Lane in East London was once associated with poor slums and the scene of the crime for the Jack the Ripper murders. Whilst the notorious pub Ten Bells still stands, the area itself is now extremely popular with London’s edgy and artistic crowd, featuring galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.
The Old Truman Brewery at 91 Brick Lane houses a vibrant market where up-and-coming designers set up shop every Sunday selling a unique variety of clothes, handbags and jewellery. There are also vintage clothing stores and chic boutiques dotted around the area.
As a hub of London's Bangladeshi community, Brick Lane has always been famed for its many authentic curry restaurants. It now also has a reputation for its warehouse art exhibitions and trendy clubs and bars. So, before your East London experience is complete, be sure to head to the Vibe Bars beer garden or 93 Feet East (150 Brick Lane) which has become an East End institution well known for its eclectic mix of live music and intimate atmosphere.
London's oldest market, Spitalfields is now a seven-days-a-week destination. Spitalfields markets, once a Sunday-only mainstay, are open every day. Resplendent under a Fosters & Partners-designed glass canopy, Spitalfields Traders Market and shops offer cutting edge fashion and interiors, original artworks and as well as food.
Spitalfields market is surrounded by independent shops, cafes, bars and awarding winning restaurants like Canteen, Galvin La Chapell and Giraffe.
COLUMBIA STREET FLOWER MARKET
For an authentic East London experience, nothing comes close to Columbia Road market on a Sunday morning. Jam packed with the best blooms in the capital, it’s a lively and pretty noisy affair (and not for those who prefer peace and quiet on a Sunday), with salt-of-the-earth Eastender types, shouting at the top of their lungs and all trying to outdo one another's patter.
During the rest of the week you can dine and shop at the rest of the quaint little restaurants and boutiques.
THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE LONDON AT ITS BEST!!!

Very relaxing stay in warm cosy surroundings, will call again.
Clean and comfortable room. Excellent host.
Clean and comfortable room. Excellent host.
The room was good, tidy, big and clean. The kitchen and the bathroom was also clean. If I would return to London, I would repeat! It's very close to the center of the city, and also to the overground. The only problem is that there is a hospital near to the house and there were a lot of ambulances at night, and the windows were not too insulating. The host explain very very well the indications to arrive home. Good value price-quality

Super cosy room with everything you need, had a very pleasant stay.
It wasn't the room from the picture and the furniture wasn't either. Some things were broken. From the other hand it is close to the Tube station and the City, also it's possible to take a bus to the Oxford Street. It's very comfortable. A lot of shops are at the nearby.
Great Place Near The Centre!!!
Had a lovely stay in a clean spacious room.
The room was as could be expected. It took me back to college times. The day we arrived the bathtub had a shower curtain. The second day the shower curtain was gone. The third day there was a new shower curtain and a bath rug. The kitchen had everything, but I was unable to get the toaster, or stove to work. The stove was gas, and and I was unable to get the starter to make the spark for the gas to catch the light. The glass of the oven door was separated from the oven door- but who uses an oven in london? There was cereal- which we never touched, coffee granulates, tea, sugar, solat, ramen, soup... plenty of dishes and utensils, pots and pans. The bathroom has some tiles cracked- but definitely (considering the condition it was in) well taken care off and cleaned. Once somebody from the other floor came and took like a 50 minute dump and shower- while we waited to use the bathroom to leave again. Our room looked great. It had a tv, bed, drawer, closet, table, two chairs, side table, bedside table,... everything we could need. One of the swivel chairs only had like 3 out of the 5 or 6 wheels attached- so it was a little different to sit on it. The windows rattled a little at night. Overall I would not think there be great insulation. It was rather cold outside while we were there and our "landlord" had the heat on throughout the house for us. It was comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The TV was on a fancy wall mount that could face everywhere. It was a good room. I could not have wished for more. The wifi passwords were very conveniently displayed- and good wifi. The whole of the apartment too me back to college living.
The place was easy to find due to the pictures and address we received by email beforehand. The keys were in a lockbox- so entering and final checkout were a breeze.
