Reviews of this property
We are really happy with our stay in Edinburgh. We chose to repeat and stay at Jim's place and it was a great experience. Jim is very nice and even came to pick up us at the bus stop. The locaction of the appartment is simply great: 10 mins. walk from the city centre, it's very clean, quiet and comfy and it was as nice as our first time. We definitely recommend it!
Jim was a very kind host and the location of the room was very good but it was not so Clean in there niether in the room or the bath room. If you go for low budget it may can be Worth it.
Jim is the perfect host! He is very nice and he is a good adviser for the best places in Edinburgh. The house is very well localisated in the city.
It is a very good place for a tourist trip!
The location in New town is great - close to everything. The unit it self is sad! There are 48 stair steps to get to the 3rd floor unit. The apartment itself is just 3 rooms a tiny kitchen and a bathroom. There is no pace to go and sit except for your room. The house is dirty -- not just moderately unclean but dirty. I cleaned the knobs on the stove and the front door on the washing machine. Then I realized that I had paid a lot of money for this bedroom and I shouldn't have to clean. I always wore my sandals in the kitchen because the floor was sticky. The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a month or more. In our room there were two different places that we could put our clothes but they were filled with one of Jim's friends clothes and extra pillows and blankets. We did have a closet to hang clothing so we didn't have to live out of our suitcases totally.
Please understand Jim is a great guy -- he waited for us to come to help carry our suitcases up all those fights of stairs and he was helpful as to where to go and what to see. He just needed to hire a cleaning person once a week to clean the rooms.
Very friendly host, who told us about the sights and nice palces in Edenburg, and recomanded a very good and cheep restaurant to eat very good haggis. In the house and the kitchen is was not very clean, but we had a nice room and a good warm shower.
Take attention by parking your car, You have to pay for parking and it's quite expensive .
Jim is actually very nice and easy to work with, and - very important - the bed is good. However, the traffic roars all night outside on the cobblestones, and the sun rises in the Scottish summer very early on. I had an eye shield (meant for air travel) and buy earplugs so I could sleep. For traffic Jim can not help, but good, thick curtains would make a big difference.
Fantastic location, near transport, you need no car and no public transport to reach everything on foot. Jim is a very nice and friendly host. We enjoyed :-)
