Recommendations scenery spot In Jiading:
Jiading zhouqiao,the root of Jiading.Established in 1218 as the center, here becomes the cradle for history and culture of Jiading. The abundant historical relics spread all over the area, including ancient pagoda, old street, bridges, temple, private gardens etc. You may trace the footprints of this South ancient town by visiting Huilongtan Park, Confucius Temple, Fahua Pagoda, Qiuxia Garden, appreciating Bamboo Carving Museum and Lu Yanshao Art Gallery, enjoying local delicates at Zhouqiao food street.
It was first constructed during Emperor Kaixi's reign(1205-1207) in the South Song Dynasty. It is a tetrahedral brick-wooden structure pagoda with seven-floor in a height of 40.85 meters. After getting through many renovations, the pagoda still keeps its original outlook. Wooden stairs inside lead to the top to a bird's eye of the whole city. It was announced as the Shanghai Municipal cultural relic preservation unit in 2002. The Gu Weijun Exhibition Hall and Jiading Historical Relics Exhibition Hall are housed in it.
Jiading Confucius Temple
Jiading Confucian Temple was established in the 12th year of Jiading in Southern Song Dynasty(1219). It is one of the best conserved county-level Confucian Temple architectures in our country although has gone through several tens of repairs in the past 800 years. It was praised as " the first in ancient Suzhou area". The archways, stone lions, corridor of steles,Lingxing Gate, Panchi Pool, Dacheng Palace and Danghu college in the temple all have literary quotations of many years. In 1962, the Jiading Confucian Temple was listed as Shanghai Municipal cultural relic preservation unit.
China Imperial Examination System Museum
Shanghai Chinese Imperial Examination Museum is located at the Jiading Confucian Temple. At present it's the unique topic museum about imperial examination at home and abroad. By displaying five parts of "change and development of imperial examination system", "imperial examination and confucianism", "imperial examination and social civilization", "procedures of imperial examination" and " imperial examination and education" as well as more than one thousand of relics. The museum fully exhibits and reappears the rise and decline history of imperial examination system from Han Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty, which lasted for more than 1,300 years.
Bamboo Carving Museum
Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum makes full use of the collected relics resources, absorbs folk collection of Jiading Bamboo Carving. The purpose of the museum is to provide a place for the tourists to observe and appreciate Jiading Bamboo Carving. Jiading Bamboo Carving dates back to mid-Ming Dynasty , having a history of 400 years. It is initiated by three generations in the Zhu family-- Zhu He, Zhu Ying and Zhu Zhizheng. The exquisite artworks are mainly made by the forms of under-earth deep carving and relief. In 2006, Jiading Bamboo Carving was listed as the national intangible cultural heritage.
Lu Yanshao Art Gallery
Built on June 26 1999, situated in the poetic and picturesque Chinese Jiangnan Garden, the Lu Yanshao Arts Gallery covers an area of 6.5 mu, is the place where academic conferences are held. Lu Yanshao(1909-1993), a Nanxiang Jiading native, is a famous landscape painter whose vigorous style received critical acclaim in the late 20th century. The gallery houses nearly 100 pieces of Lu's art works.
Huilong Pond was dredged in 1588, or the 16th year of the Wanli Reign of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of 400 years. Its name is derived from the Huilong Pond in front of the park, literally means "the pond where five dragons gather together". The cultural relics and historic sites such as stone pavilions and stone towers are well-preserved in Huilongtan Park. The Kuixing Pavilion, Zhuangyuan Clochard and the Confucius Temple coordinate with one another around the pond side. The monuments to Hou Tongceng and Huang Chunyao still stand majestic in the park.
Built in 1478 in Ming Dynasty, the quiet, unsophisticated, broad and elegant Qiuxia Garden is the oldest, yet the most well preserved among Shanghai's five private Jiangnan gardens. The whole garden covers an area of 47.7 mu, consists of Garden of Gong Clan, Garden of Shen Clan, Garden of Jin Clan and Chenghuang Temple. It integrates the essences of Jiangnan style garden with thick foliage and tall bamboos, special flowers and peculiar trees, pailions and terraces and winding path leads to secluded spots; therefore, it can be called the garden with gardens inside. A large number of couplets are still viewable now. The Qiuxia Garden is a perfect respite for city-weary souls. It was listed as the Shanghai city-level cultural relic preservation unit in 1962.
Gu Weijun Exhibition Hall
Archive and used articles of Gu Weijun(1888-1985), the former diplomat of China, are on displaying in Fahua Pagoda. The exhibited items are full and accurate, with high historical value. Gu , a Jiading native, was one of the founder of the United Nations. He once worked as China's chief diplomat, head of the financial department and representative premier of Northern Warlords Government . In 1919, he refused to sign on "Paris Treaty" when attended the Paris Congress on behalf of Chinese government.
Zhouqiao Old Street
Located in the Zhouqiao Scenic Area, the Zhouqiao food street is one of the busiest streets in Jiading. The traditional bridges, rivers and residences in Jiading style gathered here. When you walking on the stone street, you can enjoy the traditional chinese snacks and appreciate the beauties of Jiading.
House rules- For security reasons, we don't allow guest to bring home overnight any strangers who didn't check in with the guest. If you would like to meet with friends or have some formal meeting, you can make use of the tea place in the living room .
- If Essie have time, we would like to invite you for a tea ceremony in the living room,but we don't like guest to make tea by themself in the tea place, because some tea ware are very easy broken.
- My family live in the next-door, so we don't use the kitchen to prepare our own meal ,you can cook by yourself .
- To keep the common areas of the house tidy , we ask our guests to keep all their belongings in their rooms.
- We ask guests not to bring or consume food items in their rooms, to avoid bugs etc. The living room is spacious with a big dinning table.
- Help us conserve the earths valuable energy, by switching of lights and air-conditioners when you leave the room.
-Would appreciate not smelling greasy meat cooking,because we keep many good tea in the living room,bad smell will give bad influence to the tea. Many thanks!
