New pictures are up! There is a new bed and the room was just freshly painted, as seen in the first picture. The rest of the pictures were from before it was painted. A new patio set is also now in, but not pictured!
This offer is for private use of the master bedroom (approximately 18x14) in a two bedroom apartment in the East Village which is perfect for a single or couple, who want to stay in a clean apartment and experience living in a great neighborhood in NYC, all while saving a few bucks from pricey NYC hotels that are usually located in tourist trap areas.
It's very clean and has things no hotel can offer, like the outdoor patio right outside the bedroom! The building also has a 24 hour doorman / security, gym, laundry room and killer roof deck with views of NYC and its bridges.
This posting is for a private room in a shared apartment with myself (separate bedroom) and/or occasionally another traveler(s). There is a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a hot plate to do a little light cooking/heating up food, along with utensils and table ware and glasses. The bathroom is composed of shower, sink and toilet, very clean, shared with myself, when I'm around.
If you're the physical type, there is a gym (free) for your use in the basement of the building as well as a laundry room (coin operated), vending machines and ATM as well.
This neighborhood is very lively after the sun goes down. The East Village has been heavily built up over the last 5 years and located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Manhattan. The East Village offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and a beautiful park. You can walk to Indian, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vegetarian and American restaurants within a 5 block radius. If you're too tired and beat up from touring NYC and don't feel like going anywhere, you can simply order in and have anything delivered to the room (usually until 11 pm or midnight). And these little privately owned restaurants are MUCH better than midtown/tourist-trap food chain places. There are at least three 24/h places to eat within 1 block.
This building is one of only a few in the neighborhood that has a doorman and an elevator. About 95% of the buildings in the area are walk-ups. Your "home away from home" will provide the NYC experience not soon forgotten: the spectacular panoramic view of NYC on the roof deck (elevator and outdoor furniture up there), a private outdoor patio with table and chairs, huge courtyard in middle of complex, about 100 restaurant/bars/cafes/shops within a 3 block radius and probably 500 within a 10 block radius. Enjoy a beautiful park (Tompkins Square) at the end of the block and an East River waterfront park about 4 streets/blocks to the east.
For an additional fee, I can serve as your personal tour guide (or recommend various other tour guides specific to certain areas of NYC as well as recommend the cool, not-in-the-guide-books places for nightlife or dinner).
For stays of more than 7 nights, a small deposit will be required pending on length of requested stay and cleaning charge of $25 every 7 days (paid directly to house cleaner). I'm sorry, but single night bookings will not be accepted unless they are within 7 days of arrival.
Linen will be clean when you arrive. If you wish to wash them while you are here, there is a laundry room in the basement to do it yourself. Towels will also be clean; used towels will be collected and washed every few days when needed. Continental breakfast is included in the rate. It’s made of juice, milk, coffee, tea, bread or bagels or cereal.

Bruce has been a very nice host. The flat is in the basement, but quit nice with a great view from the rooftop!
Its a bit of a walk to the next subway, but not that bad. East Village is a great area for bars and restaurants.
We stayed in Bruce's apartment for 8 days, at the beginning of October. Bruce was a great host, and the room was big and comfortable. It was very clean when we first arrived and there was a small fridge with some complimentary food and drinks - nice touch. I would recommend this place to my friends. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks Bruce!
Bruce was a really nice and helpful host. He gave us a lot of good information that helped us making our trip even better. His apartment was absolutely clean, the room that we stood at was comfortable and we had a lot of space; additionally, the bed was just really nice. Throughout our stay, Bruce respected our privacy and was still available in case we had a question. Thank you for a great time!
It was great at Bruce's. Nice little Room with everything needed and pretty well connected to the center of Manhattan. Also some nice Bars arround.
We had 8 nights at the property and were very pleased. Bruce was an excellent host.
Previously, he sent us the exact directions. Cleared in advance on what we wanted to have breakfast and filled the fridge with it exactly. A great reception. He answered all our questions and gave advice.
The room was clean. The bathroom we had to share with him, which was not a problem. The apartment block has an own roof terrace. Madness, a panoramic view of Manhattan. To cook the room is not very suitable, because you have to put the two electric hot plates on the dining table, but everything is there, what you need for it.
The area is safe and with many cafés and pubs it has a student and invigorated.
We have felt very comfortable and can recommend it. Thank you Bruce!
Danke Bruce!
We really enjoyed staying here. Bruce is a friendly guy who obviously takes great care of both the apartment and the contact / communication with us. Clear and practical info beforehand and durng our stay, nice and clean apartment and a breakfast that we could specify some things we like. I definitely recommend this place to others and would love to stay with him again.
Good base in the north and south of Manhattan. All Public Must be good, for example, reached by city bikes. Immediately within three Citybike stations. Many good restaurants and pubs in the East Village around the corner. Top roof terrace with great views.
Bruce was an incredibly gracious host who has supplied in advance with tips. All agreements folded fine, we even got a 2nd mattress and on a rainy day a nice letter with umbrellas. Although Bruce and a friend lived in the apartment, we never got it to actually face, only one night there was a loud quarrel. The room was very large and spacious. And the location is really great. All in all, highly recommended!
Great location, very central and Bruce is a very friendly and helpful host.
Great location, very central and Bruce ist a very friendly and helpful host.
The room with a king-size bed, desk, sitting area and TV / fridge / air conditioning / coffeemaker / dishes / utensils is highly recommended for a holiday in New York. The room is in the basement of a large apartment block in the beautiful East Village with an ideal base for all areas of interest. The nearest subway is about 15 minutes to walk -. Supermarkets, bars and restaurants are around the corner.
In the basement is a fitness room and on the roof an ingenious terrace overlooking Manhattan's south. For athletes also offers a jogging route along the East River Park.
The bathroom with shower and toilet and the kitchen equipment in the hallway (hotplates, toaster / grill, microwave) are to share with Bruce and his partner, but since both of them were not often present, there were never collisions - neither in the bathroom nor in the preparation of breakfast. The ingredients for breakfast are (several times) provided by Bruce as desired worried and in the fridge - the preparation is then up to the residents themselves.
Bruce, we really enjoyed our stay in your apartment and highly recommend it to others! Thank you for your perfect hospitality! Hopefully we will see us again soon in NYC.
Bruce, we really enjoyed our stay in your apartment and highly recommend it to others! Thank you for your perfect hospitality! Hopefully we will see us again in NYC soon.
Thanks a lot Bruce!
Everything was perfect. You are a great host!
The apartment was very clean.
We recommend a stay at Bruce` apartment!
The apartment really has everything you could possibly need. Bruce has kept even German socket adapters and power strip.
The surrounding area has some nice restaurants and the nearby metro line one is very fast in Times Square.
He really is very concerned about its visitors. Very pleasant!
Thanks a lot Bruce!
Everything was perfect. You are a great host!
The appartment was very clean.
We recommend a stay at Bruce` appartment!
Sehr angenehm!
